Meridian City Hall, located in downtown Meridian, opened in late 2008 after the city was faced with the need for a new City Hall. According to the City of Meridian, the downtown location was selected due to the idea of it complimenting the downtown plan that includes the vision of downtown Meridian being a designation. The building was “built with an eye to the future”, which explains why the 100,000 square foot structure is Silver LEED certified (meaning that it has completed and passed a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design building certification program), and was built to “maximize functional efficiencies while leaving little environmental impact”. Meridian City Hall is jam packed with green features, that not only saves tax payers money, but sets a great example for future buildings alike.
