We all know the benefits of shopping local, of buying from producers in our community. Statistically, more than 60% of money spent on local purchases will continue to circulate directly within the community. Meaning, that when you choose to spend your money on Idaho goods and products, your money stays in Idaho.
But what if I told you that you could support not one local business, but rather, you could support over 160—all in one locations?
Antique World Mall, located at 4544 W. Overland Road, next door to the Country Club Reel Theatre, is home to over 160 dealers, each boasting their own supply of unique, one-of-a-kind items. From vinyl to books to furniture and clothes and more, there is almost nothing that you can’t find at Antique World Mall.
The World Mall was started over 20 years ago by a couple named Pearl and Bernard Galitzki, who were co-founders of JoAnn Fabrics. Firm believers in hard work and dedication, the couple opened Antique World Mall in the massive 30,000-foot showroom and began filling the walls. The business is now co-owned by five different stakeholders.
Fast-forward 20 or so years: the Antique World Mall and its neighboring unit, The Annex, has become famed for a place where you can spend countless hours perusing the aisles and exploring the hundreds of thousands of items that line the pathways.
Kristina Murray, Marketing Supervisor for the World Mall, wants to encourage people to buy local this holiday season. As we begin compiling our gift lists, consider stopping by the World Mall before you try a big-box retailer or department store. “At Antique World Mall and Annex, you are making a better investment in your purchases. We offer unique items at various price-points. From $1.00 cents to several thousand dollars, there is literally something for everyone on your list. We are the alternative. Shop local, support small businesses. Support Idaho; support the Bench,” Kristina advises.
Antique World Mall is more than simply shopping; it becomes a step above: wandering through the aisles is like treasure hunting. But, if you’re short on time and don’t feel like spending several hours gawking at the beauty of ornate chandeliers and ancient battle weapons, the staff members are incredibly helpful and can usually find any specific items that you may have in mind.
“We are great for themed parties, holiday gatherings, birthdays, wedding presents—you name it, we’ve got it. And the Annex addition is more than just furniture. It’s also home to vintage clothing, collectible items, and plenty of jewelry,” Kristina adds.
Be sure to stop by the World Mall on November 9 and 10 for their annual holiday open house. They’ll have treats and ciders and deals all throughout the store!
This holiday season, don’t forget to stop by the Antique World Mall when you’re out and about. Surprise your loved ones with a one-of-a-kind gift that they can’t find anywhere else!
